Big News and New Stuff

The big news is... Rachel slept 8 1/2 hours last night!! WAHOO!!! We went to bed at 11:00 and didn't wake up until the alarm went off at 6:40 - and Rachel still didn't wake up until 7:30. Normally, even when she sleeps for a long time, my body will still wake me up periodically during the night since that's what it's gotten used to, but I never woke up either! It was the perfect combination of getting her up early, staying awake a bunch during the day, and eating enough and being awake for a while before bed. Or it could be chance, and not happen again. I vote for number one. Either way, I'm happy to feel well-rested today - which I have not felt in, oh, 2 1/2 months. Hopefully this is the start of a new and wonderful habit.

Sometime around last week, Mike said that he was getting me a present. This gets me very excited. I love presents. (Who doesn't?) Later that day though he said that he couldn't find it in any of the stores he tried. Sad. I couldn't figure out what he was getting me, especially since there was no special occassion for a present. But I patiently waited. A couple days ago he found it, and even made me wait while he wrapped it, which got me more excited because it must be cool if it warrants wrapping. And the present was...

A Wii Fit!
If you haven't heard of this, it is a game for the Ninendo Wii that comes with a special "balance board" - a board big enough to stand on that can sense the slightest shifts in weight. It's a fitness game with aerobic, strength, yoga, and balance exercises that you do with the board. It keeps track of weight and BMI, your center of balance, and your progress in the different activities. It's pretty darn cool, I think. I kind of wanted one since I heard about it, but never really mentioned it to Mike. What a sweet husband. He spoils me rotten. :)

The other new thing is something we got for Rachel - A Bumbo! This is a nifty little seat that's made of kind of a hard yet kind of squishy foam/plastic material. It helps babies to sit up before they're able to on their own. The Bumbo has won all sorts of awards and is endorsed by all kinds of doctors. Rachel is still not sure what she thinks of it. We can only put her in it for a few minutes at a time right now, but it's nice to have her sitting up and have both hands free to play with her.

I totally want a wii fit. We have a wii so i might have to borrow it for a day sometime! We too had a bumbo. It is the best until the legs get too fat and the circulation gets cut off (and he wasn't even old enough to sit up yet!)

YES!! The Fit is so much fun!! I'm much more motivated to work out with that game. The only weird thing is, the male personal trainer looks like a guy I used to date -- TJ. And I don't want to work out with the girl who has too-solid "you know whats." Oh well.

Good luck on her keeping up the habit of sleeping at night. It really is so nice when they sleep that long. Unfortunately for us James did really well for a week, sleeping 7-8 hours straight a night, but then he stopped. That was about a month ago and he hasn't come close to doing that again since. I hope you guys fair better than us.

I was thinking about getting a bumbo, but haven't yet. Rachel is very cute!!

Hey, I also just got the Wii Fit, what do you think of it? I just used it for the first time today.. I did the hula hoop, step, and basic run and about half the strength training and I now feel like I am going to throw up :) I am obviously in terrible shape...

MacKay was thinking that the Wii Fit would be good to lose all of that "baby weight". lol looks like it will be a lot of fun for ya. and by-the-by... your baby is adorable! Her and Keely will have to meet someday!
