More Birthdays!

Reed and Rachel's birthdays are also in July, and only 2 days apart. So we had a combined birthday party for them on Saturday with Mike's family. We did a little barbeque and had cake and presents. Reed didn't really know what was going on, but Rachel loved it and kept saying, "It's my birthday!" to everyone. We had balloons and I put up on of those Happy Birthday signs, and Rachel thought that was great.

Opening presents

You can tell one of them knows what's going on, and the other doesn't.

Rachel is obviously excited about the cake. She did a great job blowing out the candles too. We actually had to light them twice, because she blew them out before we even sang Happy Birthday.
Reed got into things a bit more when it was time for the "Strip the baby down and let him go at it" portion of the party. This is the best part about turning one.

No thanks, Reed, I don't want some. :)

He demolished his cake, and loved it!

The next morning, we played with balloons leftover from the party. This picture is from like 6:45 the next morning. It's Reed's after-party. Daddy and Rachel were still in bed.

A few days before that, we got to go to the carnival, and the kids loved that. Again, mostly Rachel loving and Reed not knowing what the heck's going on, but he got to ride the carousel. He didn't grasp the concept of holding on though.

Rachel wanted to ride the Ferris wheel with Daddy...
And she loved it! (She's grinning like crazy, if you can't see it in the picture).

This was Rachel's favorite ride last year. She goes down on one of our laps, of course, but it still surprises me that it doesn't scare her.

This year she rode this kiddie roller coaster too, and it was the first ride she went on. Mike and I thought she was going to be terrified, because she has to go alone on it, but she really wanted to go so we let her. Of course she loved it!

Reed did pretty good in his stroller, watching all the action.

Meme and Pepe live in Connecticut, so they sent a birthday check so we could pick out a fun gift for the kids. We got a little farm with animals, and Rachel is seriously in love. It's supposed to be for both kids, but Rachel won't let Reed touch it yet. She loves animals and pretend play, I foresee many happy hours playing with her new farm. Thanks Meme and Pepe!

So cute! I wonder if they'll ever not like having their birthdays so close to each other.
Sometimes Rachel looks so much like Mindy that it makes my heart ache. Please don't take that in a bad way. It's just that her pictures make me miss when my little Mindy was three years old.

Reed is so darn cute! I love the pictures of him eating his cake. And yep, our kiddos have that little fisher price farm too! haha! They love it also. Happy Birthday to your little cuties! I didn't realize their birthdays were so close together!

It's probably fine now because they're too young, but watch out about the joint birthday parties! sibling rivalvry just may shine it's brightest at a joint birthday party when they're older.

or maybe start young and raise them to enjoy it :p save yourself on party planning. could go either way!
