Friday and Saturday
This was the amazing "cabin" we had for the week. It was HUGE and really nice. Kudos to my mom for picking it out. What a great place to come back to every day after our adventures. We loved sitting out on the deck watching the sunset (one day, a huge lightning storm) and talking.

The cabin had two master bedrooms and this was ours. It was seriously huge.
Saturday we went to a train museum. We rode a train and saw a lot of other neat trains and things.

We happened to be there for a special event Saturday where they had a reenactment of a train robbery.
After lunch we headed over to an amusement park that had alpine slides and a bunch of other fun stuff. The alpine slides were one of our favorite parts of the trip and the kids loved it.

These pictures show how tough Reed is. He fell and scraped his hand pretty good on the road.

At the amusement park, Rachel also did the trampoline/bungee cord thing. She went SO high but absolutely loved it and even did a flip!
Sunday and Monday
Sunday we went to church and then drove down to Colorado Springs to visit my Uncle Gary and his wife. We haven't seen them in a long time too and it was fun to catch up.
Monday we drove through Rocky Mountain National Park. It was pretty, but cold!
On Sunday we also went to Garden of the Gods and had fun climbing on rocks.

Tuesday
Tuesday was a really fun day. My parents offered to watch all the kids so the other four of us could do something non-kid friendly. We went ziplining and white water rafting. It was a blast!
These are my dad's pictures from what the kids did while we were gone. They went to a Butterfly pavilion and the transportation museum.

Rafting was awesome. Joni and I were in the front and Wayne and Mike in the back. We did an intermediate/advanced run and there were a lot of fun rapids! I was the only one of our group who had never been rafting before and I loved it!
On one of the big rapids, Wayne fell out, but we got him back in and laughed about it, even though it was a scary couple minutes. The water was COLD, but we had wetsuits and splash jackets. Our guide was awesome too.
Wednesday
We went and checked out an old gold mine and then drove up to Mt. Evans.

We saw lots of wildlife up on the mountain: marmots, Bighorn sheep, and mountain goats.

View from the top. The road up to Mt. Evans is the tallest paved road in the country, 14,200 feet above sea level. We could definitely feel the altitude.

Thursday
We spent our last day in Denver itself. Most of the adults and the older two kids went to the US Mint (no pictures though, they don't let you take any. It was pretty good for a free tour. Then we went to the firefighters museum, and finally the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, which was such an awesome museum and we didn't even have time to go through it all. And we were having so much fun that we forgot to take pictures. The kids especially loved the planetarium and Imax shows. Rachel had never seen a 3D movie before and she was floored.
We had an awesome time and it was SO great spending time with my family. Hopefully we can go on another trip in a few years again!

I love seeing all these pictures of your side of the family! Your parents are so cute, I always remember you saying every picture of your dad he has his camera around his neck. I can't believe Rachel held a tarantula!! She is brave!
