We did A LOT the last half of April. Not only was it spring break and starting to get warm, but we also got passes from the library to get into some Salt Lake museums for free, so we took advantage of all that and spent a ton of time outside the apartment having fun! 

 Okay, so these first two are not outside the apartment, but we are finger painting, which we rarely do, because, well, it's finger painting.

First up on our spring break fun was a trip to Thanksgiving Point. Yay for pony rides! I have so many pictures of the kids riding these ponies, but I just can't resist taking pictures of their cute smiles.

Nick and Carisa went with us, so here's the whole gang (minus me taking the picture) on the wagon ride.

Then we went over to the Thanksgiving Point Gardens. The flowers are just starting to come out. I hope to get us back here every couple weeks or so so we can see how it changes throughout the season.

The next day it was Tracy Aviary and Liberty Park. We had never been here before. The kids didn't think the birds were all that exciting, but I loved it.

We paid a couple bucks to feed the birds. 

Rachel thought it was fun until she got some blueberry skin on her hand. Then it was icky and she was done, haha.

Reed looks like he's not having a good time. It's only because I made him stand still for a second to take a picture - he was having a blast!

The next day we went to the Salt Lake City library for story time (which was far better than any other story time we've ever been to), and then The Leonardo, a museum next door to the library.

And blocks. There were a few other exhibits, but many of them were above the kids' age level.

 I have to say, The Leonardo was kind of lame. But I think it's just because most of the museum is taken up by their Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit right now, which I did do a couple of days later by myself and loved. But the rest of the museum wasn't all that great. Luckily we got in for free so it wasn't a big deal.

We had our picnic lunch in this picturesque spot in between the museum and library.

 Thursday was Seven Peaks! Rock climbing, go carts, and a few other little rides that the kids like.

On Friday, our local Moms Club had an Easter egg hunt, and that's all we did that day, because I was running out of steam for the week, and the house needed at least a little attention...

Someone put stickers and erasers in the eggs instead of candy. Rachel thought it was the coolest thing ever. "Stickers?! Mommy, there's stickers and erasers in these eggs. I LOVE STICKERS!!"

On Saturday, we got to have Mike with us and went to the Natural History Museum. It was really cool.

The following week, we went to the Discovery Gateway children's museum, which might just be every kid in Salt Lake's favorite place ever. Luckily, we went early in the afternoon on a weekday so it wasn't too crowded.

Reed spent like 5 seconds at this drawing table. Rachel was here for at least 10 minutes, carefully stamping, drawing, and coloring her art.

On the last day of the  month (and subsequently the last day to use our passes), we checked out Red Butte Gardens (Seriously, if you live in Salt Lake County, ask me about the Community Exploration Card - it was really neat to get into all these places for free). The kids had new butterfly nets that we had to try out. We actually caught a couple, too. And the gardens were really pretty.

Also that day, Reed kept insisting all day that it was my birthday, and we needed to have a party and make me a cake. I told him it wasn't my birthday, we were at the store in the morning while Rachel was at school, so we bought cake mix and frosting and whipped up a cake before dinner. Because cake. 

Phew! It was a fun April! The month went by so fast! Hopefully we'll have just as much fun in May - see you next month!
